This is a body shell from a MASCAR (Miniature American Stock Car Racing) race car. These cars feature a chassis made of tubular steel, Yamaha 1200 or 1300cc motorcycle engines and a fibreglass shell attached over the top. The racing is very close and thus damage does occur to the body shells.
Here, we repair the damage done during the last seasons racing. It is important to keep the shells fairly thin for flexibility and lightness. You will notice that the repairs are done almost purely form GRP as any filler used here would simply add weight and crack out under contact during racing. We finish these shells ready for our customer to paint at their request. For further information on this sport take a look at www.mascar.co.uk
