This is the well known Marlin 5EXi kit car.
The project here was to continue the development work towards track day driving. Dive Planes were designed by a company called DCA 2000 Ltd, to increase the down force applied to the front of the car.
I received a set of plans from DCA 2000 that showed the exact profile of each Plane. Once I had made the Dive Planes to specifications, attention turned to the body of the car.
I devised a way a spreading the load over a wide area of the corners of the body. This stops a point load up and possible gel coat damage. I was also able to allow for each Dive Plane to be removed from the car quickly for road use.
Its first outing was a track day at Llandow race circuit where Complete Kit Car magazine took photo’s for a full feature on this car in a future issue.
